The Illinois Valley fence and deck company built to stay.
Built here, meant to stay. Xcel Outdoor Living is Jake Palmieri’s fence, deck, and outdoor lighting company, based at 200 N Spalding St in Spring Valley, Illinois. We work across the Illinois Valley: Bureau, LaSalle, Putnam, Marshall, and Lee counties. Fully insured and registered, and easy to find if you ever need us after the job is done.
We would rather be the other kind of story. That is why the rest of this page is about how the work gets done, and not about us.
The work is done a certain way.
Not because anyone is checking. Because a fence, a deck, or a light line carries our name on the job sign, and this is a small enough place that the sign matters.
Built to hold its line.
Anybody can build a fence that looks right in October. What matters is how it looks the spring after its third winter. Illinois weather is hard on shortcuts, so we build slow where it counts on day one.
Straight lines you can sight down.
We pull string lines and check them twice. Stand at the corner of one of our fences and look down the run: it should read as one piece. Same for deck boards and light lines on a roofline.
A clean site every day.
Tools up, scraps out, gates closed, every evening we are on your property. You should be able to let the dog out mid-project without walking a minefield.
Showing up when we say.
If we say Tuesday, we mean Tuesday. When weather moves the schedule, you hear it from us before you have to ask. Around here your word is the whole business.

Why the cardinal.
The bird in our mark is the cardinal, the Illinois state bird. It stays through the winter instead of flying somewhere easier, which felt right for a company from the Illinois Valley that builds things meant to hold through every season.
You will see it on the job sign in the yard while we work. That sign is most of our advertising. Neighbors watch how a crew works, how the site looks at the end of the day, and how the line runs when the trucks leave. We are happy to be judged that way.
What it’s like to have us in your yard.
Jake is the one who comes out to look at your project, and he is on the job while it is being built. The crew is three or four people. The man who walked your yard and worked out your number is standing in it while the work happens, so nobody sells you the job and then hands you to somebody you have not met.
- A crew that treats your yard, your pets, and your neighbors the way they would want theirs treated.
- The site picked up at the end of every workday, not just the last one.
- If weather or anything else moves your dates, you hear it from us first.
- One number, worked out after Jake has walked the ground. Whatever he found out there is already in it, rock included. It does not get added later.
Real jobs, photographed as they were left
He and his team tore down the old wood fence and replaced with a sandstone color vinyl fence. We had this planned for weeks and Jake worked around the weather to make this happen, his communication throughout the weeks made it very easy.
You pick the project. We handle the build.
Jake walks it with you once. After that the materials, the scheduling, the build, and the cleanup are ours. The one part that is not ours is the paperwork: permits and HOA approvals stay in your name.
Past the paperwork, your only job is enjoying the yard.

The estimate is free. Jake comes out himself and walks the space with you. The number comes after, built on what he saw.
