Spring Valley wants the whole fence inside your line.
The city code has a section for this, 14-6-12, headed fences, walls and berms. The rule that catches people out is the boundary one: the fence and all of its posts and bases have to sit completely inside your own lot. Not on the line, not straddling it. If you have been picturing a fence that splits the difference with a neighbor, that is the sentence to read before you order anything.
The code also says how height gets measured, which matters on a sloped yard. Height runs from the ground at the base of the fence to its highest point, and it is taken from the low side. Where the ground drops two feet or more across the line of the fence, the part standing above the high side still has to reach 42 inches. Keeping it up afterwards is the property owner's job under the same section, loose and rotting parts included.
The approval stays in your name. We do not pull permits and we will not tell you we did. Once you have the green light, the build is ours: materials, scheduling, installation, and cleanup.

Spring Valley questions.
Do you actually work in Spring Valley?
Yes. Our shop is at 200 N Spalding St in Spring Valley, so this is the one town on the list we do not have to drive to. Spring Valley is in Bureau County, one of the five counties we cover.
How soon can you get out to look at a Spring Valley job?
Call 815-579-2323 and we will book a consultation. The shop is in town, so a Spring Valley walkthrough is the easiest trip we make. You get a straight answer on scope and timing, with no pitch and no pressure.
Will a fence you build in Spring Valley hold up to an Illinois winter?
We set fence posts below the frost line. That is the part nobody sees, and it is the reason a shallow-set fence starts leaning by year three: frozen ground lifts the post and never sets it back down. It is a fair thing to ask anyone quoting you a fence in Spring Valley.
Do I need a permit for a fence in Spring Valley?
Yes, and the city code is specific about where it goes. Spring Valley section 14-6-12 requires the fence and every post and base to sit completely inside your own lot rather than on the property line. It also measures height from the low side of sloping ground. Ask city hall at 215 N Greenwood Street what they want to see before you build. The approval stays in your name. We do not pull permits and we will not tell you we did. Once you have the green light, the build is ours: materials, scheduling, installation, and cleanup.
